The Institute of Project Management’s virtual Advanced Recognition and Certification (ARC) is a dynamic, real-time, digital learning environment for strictly capped cohorts of up to 15 candidates.
Over 12 online sessions, dedicated project teams progress through the key knowledge areas covered in OPEN. In doing so they complete a range of practical activities in the delivery of a fully simulated project.
Where will it take me?
Candidates who successfully complete the ARC workshop are admitted to the Institute of Project Management as Certified Project Officers (CPO).
The virtual ARC workshop is also a prerequisite for candidates considering the BSB41515 Certificate IV in Project Management Practice or the BSB51415 Diploma of Project Management.
That’s just a webinar, isn’t it?
The virtual classroom is a genuine, peer-to-peer facilitated learning experience that goes beyond the traditional text-book, video or PowerPoint pedagogy.
Unlike most webinars today, classroom sessions are 100% live with no pre-recorded content.
You cannot just ‘press play’ and listen to a lecture – the level of interaction demanded through discussion, breakout participation and collaborative portfolio building means that your classmates are depending on you to stay actively engaged and contributing throughout.
For that reason, we do not record sessions for students to review or catch-up on later. If for any reason a class is missed, you are expected to complete the equivalent unit in OPEN to get back on track.
What are the tech requirements?
Because we use ZOOM to collaborate, virtual classes can be accessed via any desktop computer or iOS / Android tablet or phone.
You join via your OPEN account for high quality streaming, including the option to share your webcam while you chat to create a panel-like feel.
Our breakout feature also makes it easy for you to actively participate, work together and exchange ideas with your peers, and you can virtually raise your hand at any time to get the facilitators’ attention and ask questions.
Students are also encouraged to co-locate in pairs or small groups where possible, sharing a webcam and computer.
You will also be invited to collaborate via Wooclap on either your phone or second monitor for real-time quizzing, polling and additional interaction – we will show how to do so in your first session!

Importantly, they are not professional lecturers who have only learned project management from text-books and classrooms.
They superimpose a wealth of project skill and experience from all stakeholder perspectives that brings project management to life for learners.
In doing so, they look beyond the curriculum to add value to students and their employers.
